AGM and election/reelection of office bearers, to be held at
Craigsfarm Community centre, Craigswood in Livingston |
The
office bearers were re-elected as a group. Welcome to all new
members. Our association remains in a very strong/healthy position.
An outline plan of events for 2009 developed.... we will continue
with the "only 4 meetings per year" format adopted for
2008, as it lead to a very active year for the group.

DSA Business Customer Conference at the Inchyra Grange Hotel in Polmont.
Places by invitation only. |
It looks as if we have about 15 people
planning to go.
If I do not get an invite I will be looking for someone to tell us all about it! |
| 6/10/08 |
Special
meeting with the DSA Fraud and Integrity team |
The DSA fraud and integrity unit came up and give us a
presentation on what their work is and how they go about it. This is the area of the DSA that it can be argued work on YOUR
behalf as an instructor as part of their remit is to identify and stop people instructing with out qualification.
For those who are interested an article about
this meeting appeared in the December 2008 edition of ADI News
magazine

This was, as always a free forum and a great chance for everyone (but in particular instructors new to working in
the area) to ask questions. A good night with quite a lot of discussion with the examiners regarding the DFT consultation
document and some road signing issues. Minutes
in HTML.. Thanks to Tom, Alastair and Norman for giving up their own time to attend

an interesting night. The guys at Livingston Fire and Rescue Station

Visit to Tulliallan Police Driver Training Centre |
I have opened contact with the Scottish Police College to see about this planed visit. We hope to get some demonstrations
from police driving instructors plus some discussion on how Police Driver
training is structured and delivered.
This already promises to be very popular evening so will probably be members only, it is
also likely to be a pay event as the SPC is now a self funding centre. Details will
follow as I get them, but contact Ray Lynch if you want to be considered.

If you have a particular subject you wish to have discussed at a meeting, please contact the secretary here WLDIA Secretary
by email or contact any member
of the committee directly - see COMMITTEE link on the navigator panel to the left.
We are also constantly on the look out for themes for special meetings or
ideas for social events. Please remember that this is YOUR association and
we will endeavour to do what you want. Also keep in mind that
meetings with a specific purpose DO COUNT AS CPD. If we use our heads we
can be getting a major part of our CPD requirements in at NO EXTRA cost,
surely that's got to be worth £10 per year membership.
